Terms of Service

Terms of Service

The rules for using AFK, written in plain language.

Effective date: April 1, 2026
Operated by: Thaker Innovations Pvt. Ltd.

1. Agreement

By creating an account or using AFK ("the Service"), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service. We may update these terms — if we make material changes, we'll notify you via email or in-app notice. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

2. What AFK Is

AFK streams terminal sessions from your computer to your mobile device with end-to-end encryption. It consists of a CLI tool installed on your machine and mobile apps for iOS and Android. The Service acts as an encrypted relay — it routes data between your devices but cannot read your terminal content.

3. Accounts

  • You need a valid email address to create an account. We use passwordless magic link authentication — there is no password to manage.
  • You are responsible for maintaining access to your email account, as it is the sole method of authentication.
  • One account per person. Don't share your authentication tokens with others.
  • You must be at least 13 years old to use AFK.

4. Free and Paid Plans

  • Free tier — available with usage limits (e.g. voice command quota). No payment information required.
  • Paid plans — billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. All payment processing, refunds, and billing disputes are handled by the respective app store according to their terms.
  • Cancellation — you can cancel your subscription at any time through your app store settings. Your paid features remain active until the end of the current billing period.
  • We reserve the right to change pricing or plan features with reasonable notice.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to violate any law or regulation
  • Attempt to circumvent rate limits, authentication, or security measures
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the Service (except where permitted by law)
  • Resell, sublicense, or provide the Service to third parties as part of your own product
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
  • Create multiple accounts to abuse free tier limits

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

6. Your Content

  • Your terminal data is yours. We don't claim any ownership or rights over the content of your terminal sessions.
  • We can't access it. Terminal content is end-to-end encrypted. We have no technical ability to read, analyze, or use it.
  • Bug reports and feedback you submit voluntarily may be used to improve the Service.

7. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with. It is part of these terms.

8. Availability

  • We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Maintenance, outages, and issues may occur.
  • AFK depends on your network connection and the availability of third-party services (app stores, push notification services). We are not responsible for issues caused by these dependencies.
  • We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service with reasonable notice.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.
  • Our total liability for any claim related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.
  • You use the Service at your own risk. You are responsible for the commands you execute and the content of your terminal sessions.

10. Termination

  • By you — you can delete your account at any time via our support page. We will delete your account data as described in our Privacy Policy.
  • By us — we may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before doing so, except in cases requiring immediate action.
  • Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases. Sections that by their nature should survive (liability, disputes) will survive termination.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Gujarat, India.
